The FAFSA or in its long form The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is actually a form which determines if the applicant is suitable for a federal student loan and even a grant. Universities and colleges also utilize this form in ascertaining whether potential students are eligible for additional monetary aid that can be used to assist in paying for school, also known as, non-federal need-based aid. Families completing the FAFSA should be wary of these mistakes that are commonly made.
